Natural Remedies for Cellulite
Do you shy away from beach attire, or wearing shorts on a hot summer day? You’re not alone, if you’re one of many individuals who are bothered by dimpling areas of fat under the skin, known as cellulite. These areas of fat can push up against connective tissue under the skin, causing those bumpy areas to appear. The most common areas where cellulite can develop are on the thighs, hips, legs, buttocks, or even the upper arms.
A common misconception is that cellulite only occurs in overweight women. This certainly is not the case since this problem can affect women, men, overweight, and even slender people, although typically there is a greater prevalence of cellulite found in women over age 35. A woman’s skin is thinner and less porous than a man’s; therefore cellulite is more noticeable on women.
Unfortunately, although cellulite is not a serious problem, it can make a person feel self-conscious when areas of
unattractive cellulite on the skin are exposed, especially for example, when you are wearing shorts, or a swim suit.
Although cellulite may be attributed to many factors, you certainly can’t change your genetics which is one of the main contributing elements. The good news is, however, you can help improve the appearance of cellulite by improving your diet and lifestyle.
What are some ways you can help improve your skin naturally from the showing the unsightly signs of cellulite?
It’s best to include a diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meats such as chicken, or turkey, fish, nuts, and whole grains. This healthy low-fat diet can help you lose any unwanted weight gain, which in turn, may help to reduce the appearance of cellulite on your body, as well as maintain a healthier body. Limit salt intake too, since too much sodium can cause you to retain fluids, which can make the appearance of cellulite more evident.
• Increase Muscle Tone
Including exercises such as lifting weights, jumping rope, or any other weight-bearing exercises helps you to tone your muscles. Resistance exercises help you to achieve toned muscles and improved bone strength. As a result, these weight-bearing exercises may help to minimize the appearance of unsightly cellulite on the body.
Staying well hydrated can help the skin to stay plumper while helping to lessen the appearance of lumps under the skin. Drinking plenty of water can also flush the body of excess toxins that can build up beneath the skin.
• Massaging the Skin
Deep massage procedures using a roller can momentarily help to loosen the connective tissue that pulls the fat to the surface underneath the skin. The increased circulation can help ease the fatty bands causing the bumpy appearance to look smoother. This of course is not a long-term effect and would need to be repeated as desired.
Although there are numerous topical creams that may profess to rid your body of cellulite, the bottom line is that there is no cure for cellulite.
It’s best to help minimize the appearance of cellulite through a healthy diet, and exercise to achieve the best possible results you can.
